Odd Talk

chuck p Tense no wave. This is how we can have nice things. Favorite track: Avoidance.

Justin Roby At Cold Waves VII, Ganser's live set (they were the first on the third day) was a perfect counterpoint to the industrial rock we had been hearing to that point. Nothing like post-punk no-wave with women leading the way to get you going and tell you you're not quite as exhausted as you thought.

gothwh0re This album is like if Joy Division and Elastica had an absurdist baby and I can't stop listening to it. Favorite track: Avoidance.

Erik Pitcock Learned of this band on my last trip to Chicago. Instantly became one of my favorite modern bands. This record is easily a top 3 of 2018. Possibly my number one because I definitely listened to it more than any other record released this year. Favorite track: PSY OPS.

Comet 03:23
It’s too much It’s too much It’s not too much So far from the young creature kid Held up in her bedroom, drawing and dreaming I died over and over Performing countless times for my pretend audience Writhing and clawing under the monotony of the hills Their protection bored me, I longed for the dark woods of the world But the knot in my stomach ties me to safety Don't disappoint Don't over do Don't die Like, really die I could never believe anything beyond this moment here The future is not for me to imagine Forward, forward Always forward
2.
Satsuma 04:28
“What a time to be alive,” they said “Lives only lived so much” To offer a hand A sign of moral support Moments of gesture Hold your tongue (Hold your tongue) Million and a half Million and a half people Million and a half Million and a half people Million and a half Million and a half people Million and a half Million and a half people All the things trouble can cause Smothered and smashed up ‘Cause it’s all for naught Never not The secret to modern life Is to be good with your words (Good with your words) Million and a half Million and a half people Million and a half Million and a half people Million and a half Million and a half people Million and a half Million and a half people Million and a half Million and a half people Million and a half Million and a half people

PSY OPS 03:04
Beating And always Looking Always something Not you Salt and vinegar Fuck me OK! A pace And tension Hear anger Fear She's got me Salt and vinegar Fuck me All right It’s all right I saw it wrong Realize Nothing Bruised knees Salt and vinegar Fuck me OK! Breaking teeth Biting tongues It’s all right As long as it saves us It’s all right It’s all right It’s all right As long as it saves us It’s all right Salt and Vinegar It’s all right OK!

Avoidance 02:51
A moment Was there something you wanted? Give way to hours With nothing to say No answers just Speculation It passes time Wastes my time Your spit and skin Has done me in It’s done me in Your spit and skin Has done me in It’s done me in Your spit and skin Has done me in It’s done me in Your spit and skin Has done me in It’s done me in Do you hear it? Though still The faint hum electric It murmurs of meaning A sort of expression Telling there’s no telling And nowhere to go Your spit and skin Has done me in It’s done me in Your spit and skin Has done me in It’s done me in Your spit and skin Has done me in It’s done me in Your spit and skin Has done me in It’s done me in

YES NO 03:04
Hello again My permanent friend The tight fit I’ve learned to live in Live on in this well lit dead end Pull tight Make no mistake No mistakes Here it goes again Signals misfire Too much wear (not enough desire) But don’t worry They’d probably never notice You weren’t there Pull tight Make no mistake No mistakes Here it goes again Remember the years When my patience wore thin? You’ll never be Quick enough When you’re reluctant to Even show up There’s no good side Just better lies Loose boundaries And messy lines So pretty as they Draw up divides

Marsh 04:23
I don’t know what to say Tense and hungry Hurt and words It crawls Only so many ways More and more And down Sink to safety Should I And why Mumble and spit words You can't hear I don't speak It runs A race to an end This sympathy game Across salt lands I’m no good with names I can’t remember we were Less and more Less And more Less And more And more Should I And why Should I Mumble and spit words You can't hear I don't speak Should I And why Deep in my skin Should I A why A when Cut off Cut down Caught up in Should I And why Should I Should I And why Should I Should I And why Should I And why Find love for you again Again

Aubergine 03:45

Revel 05:07
This world Don’t let me die here Your words like atmosphere A change No sense of direction Exchanged for something less Something less Bereft The weight of the world Compressed and concealed (More than anything) More than any other thing (More than anything) (More than anything) More than any other thing (More than anything) (More than anything) More than any other thing (More than anything) (More than anything) More than any other thing (More than anything) In the core The core of all things The ground A shaky promise You're always in your head And it's still not good enough I should ask I should want I should never ask Never want Never ask More than anything More than any other thing More than anything More than any other thing

“Such a fine sunny day And now I have to go” Seems the dream is ended And it's no one that I know No freedom in the keeping Please clear the exit row Please go So this is what it feels like And we wouldn't need to sleep Or remember anything I wouldn't need to be Something Breathe and scream You think there's truth in order That there’s order at all Some answer to the problems But the house was built too small No safer in the shelter Please watch your step Hope not to fall So this is what it feels like Find something to fill you up Somewhere to make you whole And the edges how they shimmer But the sky's not beautiful So this is what it feels like Well, I don’t care for this at all So this is what it feels like So this is what it feels like So this is what it feels like No face to the sound No eyes to meet mine No names to recognize Some days the bright still hurts We’re children every time Look to be blind Be blind Be blind
